Planning information, not the regulations

Saddleglass is a free research tool. It summarizes harvest statistics, season and license rules, and land ownership data published by state and federal agencies. It is not the official source for any of them, and it is not legal advice.

Seasons, quotas, license and permit rules, boundaries, and closures change, sometimes during the season, and summarizing them can introduce mistakes. You are responsible for knowing and following the current regulations. Before you apply, buy a license, or hunt, confirm every detail in the official regulations:

Maps and land boundaries

Hunting district and unit boundaries are simplified for the web. Public land layers come from USGS PAD-US and are approximate: they are not a legal survey and can be out of date, miss private inholdings, or omit closures, easements, and access restrictions. Do not rely on this site to decide whether you may legally enter or hunt a piece of land. Confirm land status and access with the managing agency, and get the landowner's permission before entering private land.

Success rates are history, not predictions

Success rates describe what happened to hunters in past years, as reported by the state. They do not predict your success or your odds of drawing a tag, and small samples can swing widely from year to year. See the Data page for how each number is computed.

Not affiliated with any agency

Saddleglass is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the U.S. Geological Survey, or any other government agency.

No warranty

The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the site will be available, error-free, or current.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Saddleglass and the people who run it are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any fines, penalties, license fees, lost hunting opportunities, or legal consequences, arising from your use of the site or your reliance on anything in it. Hunting carries inherent risks, and you accept responsibility for your own safety, decisions, and compliance with the law.

Links and advertising

The site links to agency documents and other websites we do not control, and it shows ads served by Google. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or practices, and showing an ad is not an endorsement. See the Privacy policy for how advertising cookies work.

Using the content

The underlying agency data is public. The site's design, text, rankings, and maps are © Saddleglass. You are welcome to link to any page and to quote short excerpts with credit. Please do not copy the site wholesale or scrape it in a way that burdens the service.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the site means you accept it.
